Example SMPTE CPL with closed captions?
« on: February 17, 2017, 02:16:56 PM »
I would like to add closed captions to a SMPTE DCP. However I could not find any example CPL xmls online.
So the main subtitle gets embedded like this:

Code: [Select]
  <ReelList>
    <Reel>
      <AssetList>
        <MainPicture>
        ...
        </MainPicture>
        <MainSound>
        ...
        </MainSound>
        <MainSubtitle>
                <Id>urn:uuid:088f72b0-38f0-43c3-82cd-3223826b5788</Id>
                <AnnotationText>subtitle_ocap.mxf</AnnotationText>
                <EditRate>25 1</EditRate>
                <IntrinsicDuration>22501</IntrinsicDuration>
                <EntryPoint>0</EntryPoint>
                <Duration>22500</Duration>
        </MainSubtitle>
    </AssetList>
    </Reel>
  </ReelList>

What does the code for closed captions look like?

    <AnnotationText>subtitle_ccap.mxf</AnnotationText>
   <EditRate>25 1</EditRate>
   <IntrinsicDuration>22501</IntrinsicDuration>
   <EntryPoint>0</EntryPoint>
   <Duration>22500</Duration>
   <Language xmlns="http://www.smpte-ra.org/schemas/429-12/2008/TT">en</Language>

</tt:ClosedCaption>

hi darklover,
did you check if the code works? I have no way of checking the closed captions in a DCP.

 No I also do not have the opportunity to test. I still try to make a test dcp but without guarantee   :(

Ha, great! dcp_inspect does not complain and neoDCP player says your DCP includes subtitles and captions. Thanks!  :D

By the way, how did you create the ccap.mxf? Did you do it with OpenDCP and the "Closed Captions" option in the subtitle tab?
Did you use the same xml structure as in normal SMPTE subtitles?

I didn't use openDCP to create the mxf. I use the asdcplib directly (http://www.cinecert.com/asdcplib/).
For the structure of the xml file, I used a simple example. I think for the ccap it is the same as ocap, I do not really know.

example :  (font are Vera  : https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/bitstream-vera-sans)

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<SubtitleReel xmlns="http://www.smpte-ra.org/schemas/428-7/2007/DCST">
<Id>urn:uuid:d5f69f3f-7714-43e7-99a8-44b889c63876</Id>
<ContentTitleText>TEST-CCAP-schmiddl</ContentTitleText>
<IssueDate>2017-02-19T21:00:32-02:00</IssueDate>
<ReelNumber>1</ReelNumber>
<Language>en</Language>
<EditRate>24 1</EditRate>
<TimeCodeRate>24</TimeCodeRate>
<StartTime>00:00:00:00</StartTime>
<LoadFont ID="Vera">urn:uuid:842cc62f-ed93-4602-97d7-9e926636582d</LoadFont>
<SubtitleList>
<Font ID="Vera" Size="36" Color="FFFFFF00">
<Subtitle TimeOut="00:00:06:00" TimeIn="00:00:01:00">
<Text Vposition="-40.06" Hposition="20.0">Ligne 1 de sous-titre CCAP : timed text</Text>
</Subtitle>
<Subtitle TimeOut="00:00:15:00" TimeIn="00:00:07:00">
<Text Vposition="-40.06" Hposition="25.8">Ligne 2 de sous-titre CCAP : timed text</Text>
</Subtitle>
</Font>
</SubtitleList>
</SubtitleReel>
