Digital Workflow / Online Digital Cinema Mastering Course (Paid)
« on: February 03, 2014, 10:23:32 PM »
Helmut Lottenburger has created a paid online course ($49) covering aspects of Digital Cinema mastering. It's not a tutorial on using DCP creation, but rather an overview of the digital cinema workflow. I was not involved in the creation of the course or it's content. I have viewed the course and I did find it informative, but again, it's not a detailed step by step guide covering the process.

If you are interested, you save $10 by using the following link: https://www.udemy.com/digital-cinema/?couponCode=dciforum36 and Helmut will donate a percentage of the course fee to the OpenDCP project.

Digital Cinema Packages / Validating DCPs
« on: September 09, 2013, 10:44:17 AM »
As part of the DCP creation process, it is important to validate your DCP. However, aside from trying at the destination venue, there are few options. Fortunately, Wolfgang Woehl has done nice work on a validation tool, dcp_inspect. As with most tools, it can't catch every possible mistake that can be made, but it's a great way to catch the most common ones that cause problems. Definitely something that should be added to your workflow.

OpenDCP / Need help testing OpenDCP 0.27 on various linux distributions
« on: December 02, 2012, 10:26:55 PM »
I need some help making sure the new packaging process works on various linux distributions. It doesn't need to be a full testing, just that the packages install and basic functionality works. The packages are now made specifically for each distribution, so the painful dependency nightmare should be minimized. I'll try to keep building as many of these as possible, but for the most part they will be best effort and your mileage may vary.

Looking for:

OpenSUSE 11.4, 12.1, 12.2, Factory and Tumbleweed
Centos 6.3
RedHat 6.3
Ubuntu 10.04, 11.04, 11.10, 12.04, and 12.10
Debian 6.0
Fedora 16 and 17

If interested, send me a private message and which distributions (and architecture) you can help with. Thanks.
